Day 1: San Diego to Casa Grande

Imagine I blogged this on the 22nd of December, okay? After spending the night in a fancy San Diego (ahem) motel, Karin and I ate the complimentary continental breakfast, consisting of waffles and toast, and headed out on our road trip in the Southwest with coffee on the go.
The route took us over the mountains [...]

New Years Eve

We’re back! And, as planned, we were home just in time for the New Years Eve fireworks. The road trip was great, we covered some 4000 miles and lots of deserts, snowy mountains and everthing in between. We are now utterly spoiled when it comes to great views, it’s really difficult not to think “why [...]

Up and away!

Finally, the bags are packed and we’re off to San Diego and our ten day roadtrip in the Southwest. We’ll be back late December 31st. Have a great christmas! :D

Leaving for airport

In two hours, I have to leave for Washington to pick up Karin at the airport. The countdown started at around 70 days when she bought the tickets and now it’s less than 12 hours. Strange… but a good kind of strange!

cotton candy

Is it wrong to feel bad for the guys selling beverages and snacks along the rows of seats in the arenas? Saturday night, at the hockey game, I noticed that the pepseerr man had been (in my mind) downgraded to sell cotton candy instead of said pepseerr. This guy has been on all the games [...]

bus stops

Strangely enough, tonight was the first time I used the bus to go to South Side and back. I’ve used the infinitesimal subway system before but it really didn’t do me any good.
The fun part about public transportation is that no matter how bright you are, there’s no way you will be able to figure [...]

oh, the spirits?

They’re just alternate versions of the water fountain from Schenley Park ;) Strange, huh?

never lost

Considering that I’m missing the sense of direction, doesn’t have any navigational skills whatsoever, and, not to forget, never ask for directions (I’m male, damnit!)—this item should have been at the top of my list since day one: a GPS for the car. In a matter of days all my above shortcomings (only ones left, [...]

north, east or both?

Going along the coast from San Diego to San Francisco sounds like a great idea! So does going east from San Diego and spending time in Arizona and New Mexico. Maybe they can be combined?
During late December 2001, me and Marcus hellrode from Los Angeles to New York via New Orleans. All in all, some [...]

road trip coming up!

After what seemed like a million flight, car, and hotel searches on Expedia, the tickets are finally purchased. Karin and I are going to San Diego on December 21st and will be coming back to Pittsburgh on new years eve, just in time for Champagne and fire works :)
