Gone fishing

For the second year in a row, Karin and I are heading to south for an easter mountain biking vacation. We haven’t quite decided where to go but North Carolina and Pisgah are definitely on the map – the trails there are awesome, some of the best in the country! Being in the blue ridge/smoky mountains area that might not be so surprising.

What you might be more surprised to hear though is that Florida seem to have some amazing mountain biking trails too. We haven’t been biking there yet so I’m very enthusiastic about going there if we have the time. The terrain is generally pretty flat which has led to trails being more freeride oriented. I guess it’s also a matter of parks there being confined to smaller areas.

Anyhow, we’ll be back in about ten days! Ten days of biking and camping so wifi will be limited to sneaking access outside of motels :)

Backlog #1: Skyline Drive & Blue Ridge Parkway

To make up for the low activity as of late, I’ve got a huge amount of updates to do. Which is also why I’ve been inclined to procrastinate ;) Anyway, this is the first post in a long series of backlogs to be published in the near future.

In April, Karin and I drove Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway down to the Smoky Mountains National Park. Some might think it’s overkill to drive them both but we felt it was important to do it right, as always ;) Spring was a week or two away and we could only imagine how beautiful it would become in the coming month.

The most rewarding part of the trip was climbing Grandfather Mountain via footpath, ropes and ladders. Chocolate bars never taste as great as when eaten on top of a mountain.

I should really start updating the site again after being away so long. I’ve got lots of plans and lots of photos but nothing is really done yet. So until then, I’m sure you’re all curious about Karin :D

Leaving for airport

In two hours, I have to leave for Washington to pick up Karin at the airport. The countdown started at around 70 days when she bought the tickets and now it’s less than 12 hours. Strange… but a good kind of strange!

It feels like it was a really short summer this year, I only used about two weeks of my vacation and maybe that’s why. In Sweden we usually take at least five weeks vacation per year, quite unlike americans who seem to have about the same amount of time but strangely afraid to use it.

Anyway, as the weather is getting colder I find it nice to think back on the warm summer days with a sort of happysad, nostalgic feeling. Which is why I was more than pleasantly surprised when I found the cd with photos from some of the summer days spent on an island just outside of Sweden called Öland.
